Pathway to Freedom Men’s Curriculum

Staton Correctional Facility

1. Quarter One

a. Who Is Jesus? is a study that examines Jesus’ claims in the Gospel of John of who He is, what others said about Him and what does it mean for your life.

 

b. Christian Basics I and II by Prison Fellowship. Christian Basics I covers the basics of the Christian faith, including assurance of salvation and the role of the Bible, prayer, witnessing, and the church community. Christian Basics II lays a biblical foundation for resisting Satan and overcoming day-to-day temptations in the prison environment.

 

c. Seven Areas of Life Training (SALT) examines the following seven areas: spiritual, psychological, social, physical, financial, marital and parental. The first three areas are covered in this quarter.

 

d. The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Conflict focuses on the healing power of biblical peacemaking and learning to apply scriptural principles to  conflict.

 

2. Quarter Two

a. Experiencing God shows believers how to find where God is at work and to join Him with miraculous results.

 

b. Making Peace with Your Past helps offenders understand past problems and identify and remove emotional, psychological and spiritual barriers to fellowship with God.

 

c. R12: Living on the Edge uses Romans 12 as the model of what a true Christian looks like. DVD driven by Chip Ingram.

 

d. Seven Areas of Life Training (SALT) continues to examine the last four areas, which are in this quarter:  physical, financial, marital and parental. 

 

3. Quarter Three

a. H.O.P.E. and H.I.R.E. This two part series by Prison Fellowship Ministries examines some of the key principles participants will need in preparing for becoming a worker their future employer will want to hire.

 

b. Every Man’s Battle: Winning the War on Sexual Temptation, One Victory at a Time offers a practical battle plan for men—married or single, who desire to live by God’s standard for sexual conduct.

 

c. Ephesian Benchmarks: Sit-Walk-Stand is a detailed study of Ephesians to reveal the normal progression of the believer to maturity in Christ.

 

d. Slaying Your Giants This course by Kent Crockett is a survival guide that provides step-by-step biblical methods to identify, face and conquer giants each of us face in life such as hopelessness, fear, rejection, unforgiveness, anger, depression and much more. As you put the suggestions into practice, you will discover the life God intended for each of us enjoy to the full.

 

4. Quarter Four

a. Discipleship Essentials: A Guide to Building Your Life in Christ follows Jesus' example of gathering in intimate groups of two or three for study and encouragement (25 weeks over quarter four and post-graduation).

 

b. The Heart of the Problem illustrates how God shapes and transforms the lives of sinners daily, turning them from the world’s false counsel and flawed reasoning toward a path of righteousness and ultimate victory.

 

c. Purpose Driven Life gives a blueprint of God’s purpose and plan for believers’ lives and helps them to live the life for which they were created.

 

d. Prayer: the Great Adventure examines the Lord’s prayer as a model for individuals. It examines developing a prayer journal with a small group, so individuals can see how God answers prayer.
